Kim Kardashian wore a molded copper bodysuit with pointed detailing to the 2026 Met Gala, sparking mixed reactions online.
Kim Kardashian turned heads at the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, choosing a sculpted bodysuit and skirt combination over a conventional gown. The 45-year-old reality television star and billionaire businesswoman walked the red carpet in a copper, liquid-metallic chest piece with dramatic pointed accents that emphasized her figure.
The ensemble drew inspiration from the iconic Jean Paul-Gaultier aesthetic of the 1980s and 1990s. Designers Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem created the look for the event, which carried the theme "Costume Art" and an official dress code of "Fashion is Art."
Kardashian's tangerine-colored chest plate highlighted her curves and drew attention to her 24-inch waist. The SKIMS founder, who has been promoting her SKIMS x Nike collaboration this year, went braless in the second-skin outfit. The look featured a high neckline and metallic moldings that created defined abdominal details.
She paired the unusual top with a tan leather skirt featuring cut-outs that revealed her legs, along with bright orange accents on the sides for color coordination. Nude heels and a messy bed-hair look completed the ensemble, with bleach-blonde locks and dark roots, plus warming matte makeup, a smoky eye, and a lined lip. Kardashian shared her look on Instagram, where the first post earned over 1.1 million likes.
Feedback was divided, however. While some fans admired her style, others found it odd or a complete miss. Discussions quickly emerged on Reddit, with one user commenting: "Everything she wears looks uncomfortable AF!"

Another critic wrote: "I wish she would shock us and just one day wear something that isn't horribly ugly or tacky." Referring to Kardashian's ex-husband Kanye West and his second wife, Bianca Censori, a third commenter added: "I'm sorry, but this look conjures Bianca Censori's infamous public appearances."
Kardashian was joined by three family members at the event: sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner, as well as her mother, Kris Jenner.

The 2026 Met Gala also featured other notable attendees, including actresses Zendaya and Joey King, tennis star Serena Williams, and supermodel Gigi Hadid. Kardashian made her Met Gala debut in 2013, wearing Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy while attending with then-husband Kanye West. The former couple married in 2014.
