Taylor Swift Wins New MTV Award for Best 'Artist Director'

CBS and MTV announced that singer Taylor Swift will be the first recipient of the new "Artist Director" award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, a prize created to honor musicians whose work behind the camera has contributed to the production of music videos and visual storytelling.

The networks said the award, given to Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, "celebrates a continuous and influential creative journey by artists who have pushed boundaries and developed a distinctive directorial style."

The MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Snoop Dogg, will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday on CBS and MTV, and will also stream on Paramount+ in the United States, with international availability on Paramount+ and MTV the following day.

Swift, a singer and songwriter who has been nominated seven times for the MTV Video Music Award for Best Direction and won four times, has received widespread acclaim for her directorial work, including The Fate of Ophelia, Opalite, and Anti-Hero.

In addition to her directing achievements, Swift has won four Grammy Awards for Album of the Year. According to Billboard, citing data from Luminate, a music analytics firm, her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, sold more copies in its first week than any other album in modern history during the same period of release.
