On May 27, authorities responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Londelius Street North Hills in Los Angeles, where four family members were found with gunshot wounds.
The victims have been identified as Marine Basmajian, aged 30, her husband Khajag Basmajian, 31, their two-year-old son Alec, and their six-day-old daughter Ella.
Los Angeles Police Department officers attended the scene, and the medical examiner determined that Marine died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Khajag and the two children died from gunshot wounds to the head.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the incident, but initial evidence suggests it was a multiple murder-suicide.
Following the tragedy, relatives established a GoFundMe campaign on May 30 to assist with funeral expenses. The fundraiser initially aimed to raise $150,000 (£111,000) and had surpassed $176,000 (£130,000) at the time of reporting.
A spokesperson for the Basmajian family issued a statement expressing their devastation over the loss of Khajag, Marine, Alec, and Ella. The statement described Khajag as a devoted husband and loving father with a positive outlook on life, and Marine as a caring mother who enjoyed organizing and spending time with loved ones.
Their son Alec was remembered for his joyful nature and love of toy vehicles and ice cream, while Ella, their newborn daughter, lived for only six days.
The family spokesperson requested support to cover funeral, memorial, and other unforeseen expenses, emphasizing the importance of helping the family focus on healing and preserving the legacy of the four lost loved ones. They expressed gratitude for every donation, prayer, and share to honor the memory of Khajag, Marine, Alec, and Ella.
