Apple TV has released its new action-comedy "Matchbox The Movie," starring John Cena and inspired by Mattel toys, following a world premiere earlier this month.

The streaming platform’s latest original feature, “Matchbox The Movie,” is currently available for viewing. This action-packed comedy draws inspiration from the well-known Mattel toy line and joins the service's expanding library of genre films.
John Cena headlines the production, supported by Jessica Biel, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, and Corey Stoll. The film held a special screening in Mexico City earlier this month, preceding its official world premiere on October 5. Viewers have likely encountered promotional material for the title across the platform in recent weeks.
According to the official synopsis, the narrative follows a group of childhood friends whose lives are disrupted when Sean, their former leader and an undercover CIA agent played by Cena, returns to their small town. His arrival inadvertently pulls them into a frantic international mission to save the world. The movie adds to Apple TV’s collection of action titles, which includes “The Gorge,” “Wolfs,” “Ghosted,” “The Family Plan,” and the more recent “Mayday.”
Apple TV first unveiled the trailer for “Matchbox The Movie” at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. The service costs $14.99 per month or can be accessed through the Apple One bundle. Its catalog features popular series such as Ted Lasso, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking, and Silo.
