Shakira concert drives 50% hotel price surge in Giza

The Egyptian tourism market has experienced exceptional preparations and traveler influxes from global companies in recent weeks. This activity coincides with the official announcement of a highly anticipated concert by international star Shakira, scheduled for November 28 at the foot of the Pyramids of Giza. The event aligns with growing interest in cultural tourism following the full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Hotel rates spike near Pyramids

Reports indicate significant jumps in travel and accommodation package prices linked to the concert date. Hotels surrounding the Pyramids area recorded room rate increases of approximately 50 percent. There was also record demand for flights to Cairo, which extended its impact to boost tourism program prices in Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada during November.

This major artistic evening is part of Shakira’s global tour "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran." It marks her second historic return to this specific site after her famous 2007 concert, which drew a massive audience at that time.

Six-hour technical production planned

The event activities are set to span six continuous hours, starting at 5:00 PM and ending at 11:00 PM. Organizers plan to utilize large-scale technical equipment and global shows suitable for the historical nature of the Pyramids.

The organizing company clarified that ticket sales are available exclusively through pre-booking, with no sales permitted at entry gates. Strict regulatory controls for attendees include setting the minimum age for entry in the standing areas and the Golden Circle at six years old. For the VIP Standing section, the minimum age requirement is ten years.

Re-entry after leaving the venue is prohibited. Authorities will fully address any violent behavior to ensure security appropriate for this global event.
