Turkish Billionaire’s Daughter Worked as Maid for 43 Years Before Paternity Revealed

A remarkable case unfolded in Manisa province, western Turkey, where a court officially recognized that a woman who had worked as a domestic maid for 43 years in the home of a prominent businessman is in fact his biological daughter and rightful heir to his vast financial empire.

The family tragedy dates back to the 1950s. At that time, Niyazi Özmiş, aged 16, had a secret relationship with Ümit Atiüzen, a 21-year-old worker at his family’s brick factory. This relationship resulted in the birth of a daughter named Kalbiye.

Following this, Kalbiye’s mother married Anwar Zorlukaya, the factory guard. Initially, he rejected the infant Kalbiye and abandoned her in a rural area, but later his conscience led him to rescue and raise her without ever revealing her true parentage.

Kalbiye married at age 14 and had two children. After the early death of her husband, she faced harsh challenges in securing daily sustenance.

At 28, fate brought Kalbiye back to the Özmiş family home, but she returned as a domestic servant, unaware of her true connection to the household.

For 43 years, Kalbiye cleaned and served in the home of businessman Niyazi Özmiş, not knowing he was the reason for her existence. Despite the striking resemblance between her and the homeowner, the secret remained hidden. Her mother passed away in 1996 still keeping the secret, and her stepfather remained silent as well.

In 2022, shortly before his death at age 88, the Turkish billionaire Niyazi Özmiş broke his long silence and revealed the shocking truth to Kalbiye: “You are my real daughter!”

After the businessman’s death, Manisa courts conducted conclusive DNA tests confirming a definitive biological match between 75-year-old Kalbiye and Niyazi Özmiş. The court officially registered her as the deceased’s fourth daughter, granting her all legal and rightful inheritance rights.

This historic judicial ruling transformed Kalbiye, who had spent four decades performing domestic work, into one of the principal owners of the Özmiş investment empire, valued at approximately one billion Turkish lira (around 21 million US dollars). The empire includes two large brick factories, more than 30 properties and investment complexes, as well as cash, financial balances, and shares in multiple companies.

Thus, the long journey from quiet servitude and hardship ended with Kalbiye’s elevation to one of the wealthiest women in the region.
