iPhone Duo cracks reported hours after use in Turkey
A Turkish user reports screen cracking on the new iPhone Duo, with Apple staff initially offering help before blaming user error.
Apple’s newly launched iPhone Duo is facing complaints regarding screen fragility shortly after its October 23, 2026, release in Turkey. A female customer visited an Apple store located within a shopping mall to address a cracked display on her device. According to her husband, who recounted the incident, store employees initially acknowledged media reports of similar defects and promised assistance.
Store response shifts to blame

The situation changed during the consultation when a senior manager intervened. The husband stated that this executive classified the damage as user error rather than a manufacturing defect. "A high-level manager said, 'No, this is user error,'" the husband quoted. This assessment contradicted the initial willingness of staff members to help, who had noted they were aware of the issue from press coverage.

The affected user expressed anxiety about continuing to use the expensive smartphone. "I am afraid to use my phone," she said, hoping for a resolution. As of now, it remains unclear what specific actions Apple will take regarding this individual case or the broader pattern of complaints.
International reports of early failure
Complaints are not limited to Turkey. Users abroad have claimed their devices failed within hours of purchase. One international report detailed a screen breaking approximately six hours after buying the phone. The user noted opening and closing the foldable device fewer than twenty times during that period.
This user described feeling something under the screen near the hinge while showing the phone to a friend. Upon further opening the device, they heard a cracking sound and observed the screen splitting along the fold line. These accounts suggest potential durability issues with the folding mechanism.
Pricing tiers and warranty status
The iPhone Duo entered the Turkish market with starting prices at 229,999 Turkish Lira for the 256 GB model. Higher storage options command significantly more: the 512 GB version costs 246,999 TL, the 1 TB model is priced at 280,999 TL, and the top-tier 2 TB variant reaches 335,999 TL.
Reports indicate that display damage has also occurred on demo units displayed in stores across various countries, including China and Australia. While some users confirmed receiving replacements under warranty after visiting official Apple stores, the root cause remains unverified. It is unknown whether the cracks stem from production flaws or external factors during usage. No verified data exists on the total number of affected devices.
