A source inside Turkish Fenerbahce revealed, on Monday, to Al-Arabiya.net that the club's negotiations with Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player, are "not real and do not seem logical" at the present time, amid the approaching board elections.

Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season after years of success he spent at the English club since joining in the summer of 2017 from Roma, where he won all possible titles and became the fourth top scorer in the history of the English Premier League and the third top scorer of the Merseyside club.

Media reports indicated that Fenerbahce spoke with Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, to discuss the possibility of signing him starting next season, as the Egyptian star stated in an interview with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard that he "has many good options but has not made his decision yet."

A source inside Fenerbahce said in statements to Al-Arabiya.net: "Salah is a wonderful player that any team would want, but the club has not negotiated with him or his agent so far."

He added: "Board elections will be held next June, and the current board members and president will not run. Therefore, any talk about negotiations and player transfers does not seem logical at the present time."

The source continued: "It is normal for Salah's name to be mentioned at the present time and linked to many clubs, as he is one of the most prominent names in football."

Fenerbahce, which includes among its ranks Frenchman N'Golo Kante, Spaniard Marco Asensio, and Brazilian Talisca, occupies second place in the Turkish league standings, four points behind Galatasaray with two rounds remaining.
