Club and league career
Khanov was a graduate of the Salavat Yulaev club academy. He played within the club’s system from 2017 to 2023. He spent the two most recent seasons in the National Youth Hockey League, representing both Samara and Polyot Rybinsk.
Recognition as top young defenseman
During the 2022–2023 season, Khanov emerged as the top-scoring defenseman for Salavat Yulaev 2007 in the Volga Region championship, establishing himself among Russia’s most promising emerging hockey talents.
