Apple launches a new collection of smart home devices, including locks and cameras, partnering with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

A comprehensive suite of connected household hardware has been unveiled by Apple, marking a strategic expansion into the residential technology sector. The company introduced its new Apple Home Collection on Tuesday, featuring a diverse array of products such as a smart deadbolt lock, video doorbell, thermostat, temperature sensor, and multiple security camera options.
This product line represents a shift in operational strategy for the tech giant, which historically aimed to develop and support every smart home accessory internally. Apple confirmed that these new devices were constructed through collaborations with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The integration of external manufacturing partners signals a move to accelerate market entry against established competitors like Amazon Ring and Google Nest.
The accessories are engineered to function seamlessly with HomeView, Apple’s newly launched smart home hub. This central device allows users to manage connected peripherals and interact directly with Apple’s software ecosystem. Availability for the entire range is scheduled for December, positioning the launch within the critical holiday retail window.
Priced at $349.95, the smart deadbolt distinguishes itself through ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless technology. This standard offers more precise proximity detection compared to traditional Bluetooth connections. The system enables the lock to identify when an authorized user approaches, automatically unlocking the door without requiring the individual to retrieve a phone or physical key.
The wired video doorbell, costing $249.95, provides homeowners with visual monitoring of visitors and notifications upon approach. When activated, the device triggers a chime across compatible Apple hardware, including HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini, while simultaneously alerting users on their iPhone or iPad. Additionally, the temperature sensor offers granular insights into room-specific conditions, allowing users to detect variances between areas and adjust settings accordingly.
For enhanced surveillance, the collection includes indoor and outdoor cameras alongside a floodlight camera priced at $399.95. This specific model merges exterior lighting capabilities with video monitoring functions. The broader camera series supports live viewing, motion detection, intelligent alerts, and video storage features.
