A fresh carrier bundle version, 72.0.3, is now available for iPhone 18 Pro Max devices operating on the iOS 27.2 beta software with AT&T service. This deployment follows an earlier emergency patch issued last week for stable iOS 27.0 users to address cellular connectivity failures.

Addressing Cellular Service Loss

The rollout targets a specific bug that caused certain iPhone 18 Pro Max units to drop cellular signals, rendering them unable to place calls or send texts. Reports of this malfunction emerged in late September, where affected handsets displayed "SOS" in the status bar instead of standard network indicators.

Apple previously confirmed to 9to5Mac that the issue impacted a small subset of AT&T customers. The company stated that while the iOS 27.0.1 update and initial carrier settings were designed to stop the problem from spreading to other devices, iPhones that had already lost service required hardware replacement.

Version Details and Hardware Specifics

The latest update bumps the carrier bundle from version 72.0.2 to 72.0.3 for beta testers. This change aligns the beta channel with the fixes applied to the stable release, which moved AT&T users on iOS 27.0 to version 72.1 last week. Aaron Perris first spotted the new distribution on X.

Technical analysis indicates the fault is isolated to the iPhone 18 Pro Max model sold in the United States, which utilizes a Qualcomm modem. The iPhone 18 Pro, equipped with Apple’s proprietary C2 modem, remains unaffected by these cellular disruptions.
