Apple Targets Two October Events for HomePad and OLED MacBook
Reports indicate Apple will hold two separate product launches in October, featuring smart home devices and premium Macs.

October is shaping up to be a busy month for Apple hardware releases. According to MacRumors, the company plans two distinct launch events during this period. The first event is scheduled for October 13 and focuses on smart home products. A second round of announcements is expected later in the month. Neither date has been officially confirmed by Apple, so these remain rumors at this stage.
Smart Home Hardware Debut
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the October 13 event will feature the HomePad, a new smart home hub equipped with a display. This device is expected to appear alongside an updated version of the HomePod mini, which will include enhanced Siri capabilities. Additionally, a new Apple TV box supporting Apple Intelligence is slated for release. Pricing details for these three items have not yet been announced by the company.
Premium Laptop and Tablet Updates
Sources cited by MacRumors suggest a second launch event in late October, though specific product lists remain uncertain. Likely candidates include a high-end MacBook featuring a touchscreen OLED display, a Dynamic Island cutout, and a slimmer chassis. It remains unclear whether this model will carry the Pro or Ultra branding. Earlier indications point to a significantly lighter weight compared to current models. Other potential releases include a 14-inch MacBook Pro and an iMac, both powered by the M6 chip.
The OLED MacBook is reportedly configured with either M5 Pro or M5 Max processors rather than the newer M6 silicon. Price expectations are high for this device. The current 14-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro starts at $2,499, and reports indicate the OLED variant could exceed $3,000.
iPad Mini Rumors and Supply Risks
Long-standing speculation points to an OLED iPad mini equipped with an A20 Pro chip and full waterproofing. This would represent the most substantial update to the compact tablet in two years. Starting prices are rumored to be $699, marking a $100 increase from the current model. A UK price near £599 is considered plausible but unconfirmed. Samsung reportedly began mass-producing panels for this device in June, suggesting supply constraints may be less severe than those affecting the MacBook.
Global memory chip shortages pose the primary risk to these timelines. Some accounts warn that the OLED MacBook launch might slip into November or early 2027 due to component availability. However, a release within the coming weeks remains possible. Apple might also opt for press releases rather than staged events for the Mac lineup. Consumers needing a laptop immediately should consider current models, as the next generation arrives soon. Availability in the UK and Europe typically trails US launches by one to two weeks.
