ASUS Launches ROG Ally X20 with OLED Screen Bundled with AR Glasses
ASUS announces the ROG Ally X20 handheld featuring a 7.4-inch OLED display, sold exclusively with $849 AR glasses in a bundle expected above $1,800.

ASUS has introduced the ROG Ally X20, a special 20th-anniversary edition of its Windows handheld gaming device, featuring a new 7.4-inch OLED screen. This upgraded display offers 1920×1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1,400 nits of HDR brightness with full 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, according to ASUS specifications.
The device’s design includes a translucent black chassis accented with gold to commemorate the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand’s two decades. Control enhancements include the replacement of the traditional analog sticks with TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) units, which are engineered to reduce drift and wear compared to Hall-effect or potentiometer models. Additionally, the former Library button has been swapped for a multifunction key that captures screenshots with a short press and initiates screen recording when held.
Internally, the ROG Ally X20 retains the same hardware as the previous Ally X model, featuring an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 1TB solid-state drive. Therefore, performance at launch is expected to be identical to its predecessor, with the primary upgrades being the OLED screen and aesthetic changes.
ASUS confirmed that the X20 will not be available for purchase separately. Instead, it will be sold exclusively as part of a bundle that includes the Xreal R1 augmented reality (AR) glasses. These AR glasses provide a 240Hz wearable display with a virtual screen size of 171 inches and a latency of 3 milliseconds, as detailed by Engadget. The Xreal R1 AR glasses are priced at $849 in the United States and £749 in the United Kingdom when sold individually.
Considering the standalone price of the AR glasses and the base price of the standard Ally X at $999.99, the combined bundle is projected to exceed $1,850. This pricing positions the package among the most expensive handheld gaming setups currently available.
The mandatory inclusion of the AR glasses contrasts with competitors such as the Lenovo Legion Go 2, which will launch in June 2026 at $1,199 and offers an 8.8-inch OLED screen with the same AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip without requiring additional accessories. The Steam Deck OLED also remains a more affordable option for portable PC gaming.
VideoCardz has independently verified the specifications of the OLED display and the exclusive bundle sales approach. Pre-orders for the ROG Ally X20 bundle are anticipated to begin before the holiday season of 2026 through Best Buy and ASUS’s online store, though details about retail availability in the United Kingdom have yet to be disclosed.
