Galaxy S27 Ultra May Charge Faster via Curve Optimization
Leaker suggests Galaxy S27 Ultra will sustain higher wattage longer to charge a larger battery faster without increasing peak power.

The upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to feature a charging system that sustains high power levels for extended periods, potentially reducing total recharge time despite a capacity increase. According to leaker @WalleGalaxy, the device may maintain elevated wattage longer during the initial phase of the cycle, allowing its reported 5,700mAh battery to reach full charge slightly sooner than the 5,000mAh cell found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Charging Curve Adjustments Explained
This anticipated improvement focuses on optimizing the charging curve rather than raising the maximum wattage, which remains at a reported 60W peak. Standard smartphone batteries typically reduce input power as they fill, meaning devices do not hold peak speeds from empty to 100%. By extending the duration at higher power levels, Samsung could shorten overall charging times even while accommodating an additional 700mAh of capacity.
The specific mechanism involves sustaining between 55w and 56w for a longer portion of the starting charging period. This adjustment stems from new optimization techniques intended to make the real-world charging speed slightly faster than that of the previous generation model. Neither Samsung nor the source of the leak has provided a precise total charging time for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Battery Capacity and Performance Factors
A shift to a 5,700mAh battery would represent a 14% capacity increase over the 5,000mAh packs used across several recent Galaxy Ultra generations. However, this numerical rise does not automatically translate to a 14% extension in battery life, as display efficiency, chipset performance, and software power demands remain critical variables in determining endurance.
Temperature management and long-term battery health stand as key unknowns if the manufacturer pursues faster real-world charging through curve optimization instead of a higher wattage rating. These factors will likely influence how effectively the sustained power delivery operates without compromising the longevity of the hardware.
