Apple's latest developer beta introduces a bolder Apple Music logo, new Messages settings code, and design tweaks for Books and the battery icon.

Build number 24B5099f marks the arrival of iOS 27.2 beta 3, distributed to developers on Monday. This release follows the second beta by two weeks and precedes a public beta issued Tuesday, with a final version expected before the month ends.
A redesigned Apple Music logo appears within the operating system, aligning with teasers from last month’s Apple Music Hall announcement. The updated graphic features a heavier typeface and a lowercase “m” in “music.” Implementation has begun in the sign-up flow for the service.
Design adjustments extend to Apple Books, where the reading view’s Menu button now utilizes a standard Liquid Glass menu. A progress bar has also been added to track reading status. These modifications were identified by Beta Profiles on X.
Code references indicate development of granular controls for suggested actions in the Messages app. Users may eventually disable features like “Add to Calendar” for specific applications including Reminders, Notes, Maps, and Calendar. This setting remains inactive in the current build and could be removed prior to launch.
The battery icon receives a slight redesign across the Settings app and other interface elements. New splash screens have been introduced for both the Apple Fitness and Apple TV applications.
macOS 27.2 beta 3 contains additional indicators of work toward touch-enabled MacBook Pro models, potentially launching this month. The update includes gesture recognition tools for stock Apple apps and a new long-press animation for Dock icons suited to touch interaction.
Further code analysis by Aaron Perris suggests that nearby smart home accessories might display controls within the Dynamic Island.
