Lenovo launches Legion Y9000P with RTX 5090 and 1100-nit OLED screen
Lenovo's new Legion Y9000P Extreme Edition 2026 gaming laptop features an RTX 5090 GPU and a 1100-nit OLED display, but performance gains over the RTX 4090 are minimal.

Lenovo has introduced the Legion Y9000P Extreme Edition 2026, a 16-inch gaming laptop equipped with the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU and a 1100-nit OLED display. Despite the high-end specifications, independent benchmarks indicate the RTX 5090 offers only a 0–3% frame rate improvement over the RTX 4090 in actual gaming scenarios, according to BudgetLoadout.
Specifications of the Legion Y9000P Extreme Edition
The laptop is powered by Intel's Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, which supports up to 165W TDP. The RTX 5090 Laptop GPU runs at a maximum of 175W and includes 24GB of GDDR7 memory. To manage heat, Lenovo has implemented a triple-fan cooling system rated for a combined 285W output, aiming to prevent performance throttling during extended gaming sessions.
Its display is a 16-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, a 240Hz refresh rate, and coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The peak brightness reaches 1100 nits, more than twice the 500-nit brightness found on the OLED screen of the Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 models available in the US and UK. This enhancement benefits users working in bright environments or handling HDR content.
Additional features and market availability
Other features include Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, support for up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, Lenovo's TrueStrike keyboard, and RGB lighting on the rear vents and chassis. However, the Y9000P Extreme Edition is currently exclusive to the Chinese market.
The global counterpart, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 10, is sold through retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H Photo, with prices starting around $2,399 for lower configurations and exceeding $3,500 for models with the RTX 5090. This version comes with a 500-nit OLED screen rather than the 1100-nit panel.
Pricing and competition in the gaming laptop segment
In China, pricing for the Y9000P begins at CNY 20,999 (approximately $3,100) for the RTX 5070 Ti model and reaches CNY 37,999 (about $5,600) for the RTX 5090 version, as confirmed by Notebookcheck. Prices are expected to increase by 20–30% in Western markets due to import duties and retailer markups.
Competitors offering RTX 5090 configurations include the Dell Alienware 18, ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18, and MSI Titan 18 HX. The Legion Y9000P distinguishes itself with its 16-inch form factor and brighter display, making it more portable compared to 18-inch alternatives.
Performance considerations and future availability
The performance advantage of the RTX 5090 over discounted RTX 4090 laptops is marginal. The main incentive to choose the 5090 lies in its DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation technology rather than raw rasterization speed. Lenovo has not yet confirmed if the 1100-nit OLED panel will be available outside China or the timeline for a wider international release under the Legion Pro 7i brand.
For those seeking a top-tier gaming laptop immediately, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 is currently available in Western markets. Prospective buyers who prioritize the brighter display may consider waiting for Lenovo’s forthcoming announcements in 2025 or 2026.
