Microsoft Cancels UK Data Center Deal with Nscale
Microsoft has withdrawn from a data center agreement with British cloud computing firm Nscale in Luton, Essex, according to the Telegraph.

The Telegraph reported on Sunday that Microsoft has exited a data center contract with Nscale, a United Kingdom-based provider of cloud computing services. The American technology giant is identified as one of Nscale's two largest clients.
Project delays and power issues
The cancellation specifically affects an agreement concerning a facility located in Luton, within the county of Essex. According to the report, the project had encountered repeated scheduling setbacks. Officials from the electricity grid network informed Nscale that they did not anticipate supplying power to the site before the start of the next decade.
The newspaper did not specify the exact reason for Microsoft’s withdrawal from the initiative. As of the publication of the report, the US company had not responded to requests for comment regarding the decision.
Nscale response and future plans
A spokesperson for Nscale told Reuters that the relationship with Microsoft remains strong and long-term. The representative stated that the unfortunate issue concerning the London-area electricity grid would not impact their other contracts.
"We remain committed to both the Luton project and the UK, exploring alternative power sources for the site, as well as other expansion locations in Britain," the spokesperson added.
Nscale provides infrastructure resources, including computing capacity, energy supplies, and data centers. The company also offers software necessary for training and operating artificial intelligence models.
