Oppo Introduces Pad 6 Tablet with 3K 144Hz Display and Increased Price

Oppo has released the Pad 6 tablet in China, marking a price rise to $515 for the base model, approximately $100 higher than the previous Pad 5. This new model offers a faster processor and an improved display, although the enhancements are described as incremental rather than revolutionary.

The Pad 6 features a 12.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 3000 × 2120 pixels, which Oppo refers to as 3K. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 900 nits. The screen's 7:5 aspect ratio is closer to that of a sheet of paper than a widescreen television, making it suitable for reading and document work. Additionally, Oppo offers a Soft Light Edition with a nano-textured matte screen coating, which the company states reduces glare by 97%. This version also includes a black-and-white reading mode for extended usage.

Under the hood, the Pad 6 is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9500s chip, built on a 3nm process. It is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. According to Notebookcheck, the device achieves an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding 3.06 million. The tablet measures 5.99mm in thickness, weighs 577 grams, and features six stereo speakers alongside Dolby Vision support.

The battery capacity stands at 10,420 mAh, with support for 67W fast charging. Oppo claims the device can maintain up to 56 days of standby time and that the battery should last at least four years before significant degradation occurs; however, these figures have not been independently verified.

Running ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, the Pad 6 includes AI capabilities such as real-time lecture transcription, handwriting cleanup, and a sketch-to-illustration tool designed to refine rough stylus drawings. It supports multi-window functionality and comes with a pre-installed WPS Office suite aimed at students and office users. The tablet also enables cross-platform file sharing compatible with both Apple and Android devices.

The device lacks a fingerprint scanner and SIM card slot, relying solely on facial recognition for biometric security. Accessories like the compatible stylus and keyboard cover are sold separately.

Pricing starts at around $515 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model, while the highest-end 16GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration costs approximately $630. The Pad 6 is available for pre-order in China and comes in silver, grey, and light blue color options. No information has been provided regarding a global release date. Historically, Oppo tablets have been slow to reach markets such as the US and UK, with the Pad 5 never officially launching in those regions.
