Argentina Defeats Jordan 3-1, Eliminating Them from World Cup
Argentina secured a 3-1 victory over Jordan, sealing Jordan’s exit from the World Cup after their third loss in the group stage.

Giovani Lo Celso opened the scoring for Argentina in the 19th minute, followed by Lautaro Martínez adding a second goal from a penalty in the 31st minute.
Musa Al-Taamari reduced the deficit for Jordan in the 55th minute, and a substitute then scored Argentina’s third goal in the 80th minute.
With this win, Argentina reached 9 points, topping Group 10, and will face Cape Verde in the round of 32 on July 3.
Jordan, on the other hand, exited the World Cup after their first participation, remaining at the bottom of their group with no points.
Both teams engaged in an open attacking match, but Argentina’s offensive strength was evident from the start, even without their captain and top scorer Lionel Messi.
In the sixth minute, Argentina nearly took the lead through Lo Celso, who had a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper, but the offside flag was raised.
Argentina’s pressure continued, leading to the first goal from a free kick near the penalty area. Lo Celso struck the ball beautifully into the net, which goalkeeper Yazid Abu Leila failed to handle in the 19th minute.
At the 30th minute, Jordan’s defender Muhannad Abu Taha made a mistake inside the penalty area against Julián Álvarez while trying to clear a header that the goalkeeper initially saved after a previous attempt by Lautaro Martínez had hit the crossbar.
The referee awarded a penalty after reviewing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which Lautaro Martínez converted in the 31st minute, marking his first World Cup goal.
Jordan attempted to threaten Argentina’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez with several efforts, but none reached a dangerous level, and the first half ended with Argentina leading.
Early in the second half, Argentina nearly scored a third goal, but the offside flag was again raised against Martínez.
Jordan’s forward Musa Al-Taamari showcased his World Cup form by scoring to narrow the gap for "Al-Nashama" in the 55th minute, following an assist from Ihsan Haddad.
This goal was Jordan’s third in the tournament, following goals by Nizar Al-Rashdan and Ali Alwan in previous matches.
Al-Taamari had come on as a substitute for Ali Al-Zayza at the start of the second half, rewarding his coach with a goal to reduce the deficit.
Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni introduced captain Lionel Messi in the 60th minute, replacing Lautaro Martínez, while Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister came on for Nico Paz.
Messi scored Argentina’s third goal from a free kick in the 80th minute with a deceptive low shot that fooled both the defense and goalkeeper.
This goal made Messi the first player to score in seven consecutive World Cup matches.
Argentina pushed for more goals in the final minutes, but their attempts did not yield additional scores.
