Seven people lost their lives after a firefighting helicopter crashed in a natural park located in western Argentina, according to the governor of San Juan province.
The helicopter, a Bell 412 model, went out of contact in the morning while in the Ischigualasto park area, approximately 1200 kilometers from Buenos Aires, as reported by the Federal Emergency Agency.
Governor Marcelo Orrego confirmed that the seven deceased included members of firefighting units, police, and civil protection services.
The agency indicated that the helicopter was engaged in a training exercise and was en route to the neighboring province of La Rioja, situated to the northeast, to assist in containing a forest fire.
