Egypt's national football team secured qualification to the round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup, but the squad is currently grappling with several injuries that could impact upcoming matches.

During the qualifying match, defender Mohamed Abdel Monem was forced to leave the field due to an injury, dealing a significant blow to Egypt's defensive line.

Additionally, the team captain exited the game in the second half after experiencing muscle pain, raising serious concerns about his availability for forthcoming fixtures.

The injury troubles did not end there, as Ahmed Fattouh sustained an injury in the final minutes of the match. Despite the pain and having no substitutions left, he continued playing until the end.

Earlier, Hamdi Fathi and Hossam Abdel Meguid had already missed the match due to previous injuries, bringing the total number of injured players in the squad to five.

These injuries have caused considerable anxiety within the coaching staff, especially with the round of 32 match against Australia approaching. The team faces a challenge in ensuring the readiness of several key players, compelling the technical staff to reorganize and compensate for the absences.

Egypt's qualification came after the results in Group H, which included Saudi Arabia, Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde. The group concluded with a goalless draw between Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, alongside Egypt's 1-0 victory over Uruguay, a result that secured Egypt's advancement to the next stage.
