FIFA Releases Final Nominees for Best Goal Award at 2026 World Cup

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has revealed the final list of nominees for the Best Goal award at the 2026 World Cup.

This final selection was completed by including goals nominated from the quarterfinal and semifinal matches. The winner of the award will be determined through fan voting after the tournament ends.

Earlier, on Saturday, FIFA announced that the Argentine player Julián Álvarez’s goal against Switzerland in the quarterfinal match—which Argentina won 3-1 after extra time—had won the Best Goal award for the combined quarterfinal and semifinal stages, receiving 37.2% of the fan votes.

FIFA implemented a phased system for selecting the tournament’s best goal, conducting voting rounds after each stage of the competition. This process began at the group stage, continued through the round of 32 and round of 16, and finally included the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

The final list includes all goals that won in previous stages, along with those that made the shortlist. The recipient of the Best Goal award at the 2026 World Cup will be announced following the final match.
