French Leaders Condemn Racist Remarks Against Mbappé by Paraguayan Parliamentarian
French President Macron and Sports Minister Ferrari express support for Kylian Mbappé after racist insults from a Paraguayan lawmaker.

The French Football Federation characterized the racist remarks against Kylian Mbappé as "hateful and unacceptable," announcing plans to escalate the matter to the public prosecutor's office.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Sports Minister Marina Ferrari publicly voiced their backing of the French national team captain.
Ferrari posted on her official X account: "The Paraguayan parliamentarian's comments targeting Mbappé attack everything our captain stands for, as well as the principles defended by our country: liberty, equality, and fraternity."
Macron, on the same platform, stated: "Mbappé has scored a new goal, this time against racism," adding that Kylian will have his full support.
Assistant coach J. Stefan summarized the incident in three words: "Disgraceful, shameful, and scandalous."
Earlier, the Paraguayan government rejected the statements made by parliamentarian Celeste Amarilla, which insulted Kylian Mbappé, the French team’s striker and captain.
In an official statement, the government said: "The government of Paraguay condemns and strongly rejects the remarks made by deputy Celeste Amarilla directed at the captain of the French national team, Kylian Mbappé, which contradict the values and principles promoting peaceful coexistence and respect for human dignity upheld by our country."
The statement further clarified: "Paraguay is a democratic republic governed by the principle of separation and independence of powers. In this context, the deputy's remarks represent her individual responsibility as a legislative member and do not in any way reflect the position of the government or the people of Paraguay."
France had defeated Paraguay in the round of 16 of the tournament held in Mexico and Canada, with Mbappé scoring the winning goal from a penalty kick.
Celeste Amarilla commented on a post about the French striker, saying: "Mbappé never learned to write; instead of his mother's milk, he was suckling coconut. This is the most information I have heard about the chimpanzee."
Mbappé responded on X to her photo, stating: "A despicable woman who does not deserve her position and does not represent Paraguay."
He added: "Because of your ignorance and racism, the world has already forgotten the historic journey and commitment of your team's players during the World Cup, making way for a woman who tarnishes her country's reputation." He emphasized that he will never allow people like her to spread their hatred and racism worldwide.
French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari also expressed strong anger at Amarilla's remarks, calling them "bad, inappropriate, and strongly rejected because they come from a political figure."
