The 40-year-old goalkeeper confirmed he will retire from professional football after the 2026 World Cup in North America. Ochoa is participating in his sixth World Cup tournament, equaling the record held by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and has become Mexico’s oldest player to feature in a World Cup game following his substitute appearance in a 3-0 group stage win over the Czech Republic.

During that match, Ochoa, known as ‘Memo,’ was visibly emotional as the crowd at Azteca Stadium chanted his name when he replaced starting goalkeeper Raul Rangel, marking his 153rd international cap. He kissed both goalposts and knelt at the final whistle, with teammates celebrating by lifting him into the air amid cheers from the full stadium.

While Ochoa made headlines on the field, his wife Karla Mora attracted attention with her fashionable appearance in the stands. The model, aged 40, wore a Mexico jersey and joined friends and family to support the team as they advanced to the knockout stage.

After the match, Karla shared heartfelt photos on social media, expressing her emotions about the night. She wrote, “What a magic, perfect night! We are leaving with our hearts full of love and peace. It’s such an incredible feeling that I cannot put into words. I just want to say thank you for that beautiful finale…and come on Mexico, we’re going to go far!”

Karla often updates her 339,000 Instagram followers with photos from her personal life, including family trips and endorsement campaigns. Shortly before the World Cup, she posted images from a beach vacation, showcasing a red crop top and skirt.
The couple met during Ochoa’s three-year tenure with the French club Ajaccio, marrying in Ibiza in 2017. They have three children: Lucciana, Guillermo, and Karla, with the two younger children named after their parents.
Karla Mora is expected to attend again when Mexico faces England in the last-16 match at the Azteca Stadium. England secured their place by defeating DR Congo 2-0, with Harry Kane scoring twice, while Mexico advanced by beating Ecuador.
Mexico holds a strong record at the Azteca, located 2,240 metres above sea level, having lost only twice in 89 competitive matches there since 1966. England will aim to overcome historical challenges at the venue, which is also known for Diego Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ goal in 1986.
Sky Sports, HBO Max, Netflix, and Disney+ are included in the upgraded Ultimate TV package, offering extensive coverage of the Premier League, EFL, and other sports events. Sky broadcasts over 1,400 live matches annually, including at least 215 from the Premier League, alongside Formula 1, darts, and golf.
