Shakira to Perform World Cup Song Braless, Reveals Relationship with Younger Actor
Shakira appears braless in her new World Cup 2026 song video and discusses her relationship with actor Lucien Laviscount, who is 15 years her junior.

Colombian singer Shakira has captured attention by appearing braless in the music video for the official World Cup 2026 song, "Dai Dai." The 49-year-old artist, who previously performed the 2010 World Cup anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," showcases various frilly outfits in the video. She is scheduled to perform the song at the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City on Thursday before the host nation's match against South Africa.
Shakira will also co-headline the World Cup final half-time show on July 19 alongside Madonna and K-pop group BTS. Her return to the spotlight has renewed interest in her personal life, including her current relationship and past legal disputes.
Shakira’s Relationship with Lucien Laviscount
The singer has been linked romantically to actor Lucien Laviscount, who is 34 years old, creating a 15-year age difference between them. The two reportedly met while filming the 2024 music video for Shakira’s song "Punteria." Soon after, rumors about their relationship surfaced. Laviscount, known for his roles in "Waterloo Road" and Netflix’s "Emily in Paris," was seen dining with Shakira in New York City. They later confirmed their romance through public appearances.
However, Shakira told The Times in May that she is currently not pursuing romance, stating, "No romance for me for now. There’s no space or time in my life for that. My plate is quite full. My kids are my priority, and my career. Strangely enough, I’m in love with my career as I’ve never been in my life. I’m enjoying my time alone as well.”
Legal Dispute with Former Partner Antonio de la Rua
Shakira was involved in a lawsuit with her ex-boyfriend Antonio de la Rua, whom she met in 2000. They announced a "temporary" breakup in 2011 but remained business partners. In December 2012, de la Rua filed a $100 million (£75 million) lawsuit claiming he was instrumental in Shakira’s global success and sought a significant share of her future earnings. Shakira denied a business partnership, describing their relationship as personal with de la Rua occasionally acting as an advisor.
The legal battle extended over several years with countersuits until the court ruled against de la Rua in 2013.
Past Relationship and Split with Gerard Pique
Shakira met former Spain footballer Gerard Pique in Madrid during the 2010 Rock in Rio festival. The couple, who had two children named Milan and Sasha, were considered a high-profile pair until their official split in 2022 following allegations of Pique’s infidelity. Shakira described the divorce as her "darkest moment" in an interview with The Times earlier this year, adding that the experience made her stronger and wiser.
Despite the breakup, she expressed gratitude toward Pique, saying, "I will always have that gratitude in my heart for the father of my kids and [for] turning me into the mother that I am today." After the split, reports indicated that de la Rua supported Shakira during her relocation to Miami, though it remained unclear whether this involved a renewed romance or purely business matters.
