Spain Plans Major Madrid Celebration for 2026 World Cup Victory

Spanish officials are organizing a special program in Madrid to celebrate the national football team’s victory in the 2026 World Cup.

Spain secured the World Cup title for the second time in its history by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final held on Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA. The tournament was hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that the national team’s plane is expected to land at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport this afternoon. Upon arrival, the delegation will head directly to a hotel in the capital to rest and have lunch before the official and public festivities begin in the evening.

About three hours after arriving, the Spanish team will begin official visits. King Felipe VI and members of the royal family will welcome the players at the "La Zarzuela" Palace.

Following the royal reception, the team will proceed to the "La Moncloa" Palace to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who will congratulate them on this historic achievement.

In the evening, the celebration will continue with a parade through Madrid’s streets aboard an open-top bus. The route will resemble those used in previous victory celebrations and will culminate at the famous "Cibeles" Square.

The event at Cibeles Square will serve as the main celebration platform, providing direct interaction with fans and marking the official commemoration of Spain’s new continental title.
