Uruguay Announces 26-Man Squad for 2026 World Cup Without Luis Suárez
Marcelo Bielsa revealed Uruguay's 26-player roster for the 2026 World Cup, excluding veteran Luis Suárez for the first time since 2006.

Marcelo Bielsa, the head coach of Uruguay's national football team, has announced the squad selected to compete in the 2026 World Cup.
The roster includes 26 players but notably excludes the experienced forward Luis Suárez, currently with Inter Miami, marking his first absence from a World Cup squad since 2006.
Leading the list are prominent names such as Federico Valverde, a midfielder for Real Madrid, Ronald Araújo, a defender for Barcelona, and José María Giménez, a defender for Atlético Madrid.
Meanwhile, Nahitan Nández, who currently plays for Saudi club Al-Qadsiah and has been a regular participant in South American qualifiers for Uruguay, is absent from this squad.
Uruguay has been drawn into Group H for the World Cup tournament.
The team’s opening match is scheduled for June 15 against Saudi Arabia. Uruguay will then face Cape Verde on June 21, followed by a challenging final group stage match against Spain on June 26.
