Valverde Accepts Responsibility for Uruguay's World Cup Exit, Vows to Return to Glory
Uruguay captain Federico Valverde takes full responsibility for the team's early World Cup exit and pledges to stay until restoring the nation's football prestige.

Federico Valverde, the captain of Uruguay's national football team, expressed his deep feelings regarding the early elimination of his country from the World Cup, stating that the shock remains vivid despite several days having passed since the event.
Uruguay was eliminated from the World Cup during the group stage, delivering a significant blow to the two-time world champion team.
Valverde shared a message on his Instagram account, saying: "Many days have passed since our exit from the World Cup, and only now am I able to fully comprehend everything I went through. I know that a part of me may never overcome what happened, especially since it occurred in the first round, similar to what I experienced in the Qatar World Cup. That sting is still lodged deep within me."
The Uruguayan star added: "I feel a heavy responsibility toward my country. It fills my soul with pride. I gave my utmost effort, prepared myself physically and mentally, tried not to repeat past mistakes, and worked hard throughout the season. But clearly, it was not enough."
Valverde continued by taking full accountability: "I accept the defeat. I bear full responsibility for not fulfilling my duty toward the national team and all of you."
The Real Madrid midfielder emphasized his commitment to continue representing Uruguay despite the setback, stating: "I take responsibility for the failure, and I know I did not live up to the responsibility. But I will never abandon representing my country, even if it costs me my life."
He concluded his message with a firm promise to the fans: "I do not know how or when, but I swear on my life that I will not leave this national team until I place it at the top."
Valverde acknowledged that this period is a painful chapter in his career but stressed that he will keep fighting to restore Uruguay's standing on the global stage.
