At least twelve individuals sustained gunshot injuries on Saturday near a local music festival in Toledo, Ohio, according to police, who have yet to detain any suspects.
Authorities conducted a thorough search of the area, questioned witnesses, and reviewed mobile phone footage amid suspicions that at least two individuals exchanged gunfire near the Old West End festival.
The Old West End festival is recognized as an annual event featuring live music and street parties in a historic neighborhood of Toledo, as reported by Agence France-Presse.
Videos circulated on social media platforms purportedly capturing the incident, with background sounds of multiple gunshots and scenes of panic and disorder in the vicinity.
Joseph Heffernan, Toledo’s deputy police chief, told reporters, "Twelve people were shot, two of whom are in critical condition," adding that "no suspects have been apprehended so far."
The security official noted that preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of at least two individuals and described the event as "likely an exchange of gunfire."
Active search operations are ongoing in the area, with authorities urging community members to provide any information that could assist in identifying the shooters.
Lieutenant Dan Gurkin expressed concern about the level of violence, stating that the average age of the victims was in their early twenties.
Police officers reported a significant security presence at the festival site when the shooting occurred.
