U.S. Awards $22.9 Billion Contract to Boost Tomahawk Missile Production
The U.S. military has awarded Raytheon Technologies a $22.9 billion contract to significantly increase Tomahawk missile production, aiming to replenish depleted stocks of advanced weapons.

The U.S. military said on Monday it awarded Raytheon Technologies a $22.9 billion contract to greatly increase Tomahawk missile production, according to Reuters.
The military is urgently seeking to rebuild its depleted inventory of advanced weapons.
The United States is sending large shipments of weapons to allies and using munitions in conflicts with Iran, raising concerns about air defense stockpiles and precision-guided weapons.
Honk Kao, acting U.S. Secretary of the Navy, wrote on platform X: "We asked industry to rapidly ramp up munitions production, and RTX is delivering. This historic contract for Tomahawk missile production ensures our armed forces maintain the lethal firepower they need."
Raytheon stated in a separate statement that the contract will span seven years and allow annual Tomahawk missile production to exceed 1,000 missiles. The company currently produces only 60 missiles annually.
The Tomahawk missile, launched from the sea, is a cornerstone of the U.S. Navy fleet, enabling long-range, precise attacks against land targets from ships and submarines.
This announcement formally establishes a framework agreement previously signed by the U.S. military and Raytheon in February of this year.
The administration of President Donald Trump is pursuing multi-year deals with major U.S. defense contractors, giving these companies confidence to invest billions in new facilities and equipment.
Earlier this month, the military signed agreements to boost production of components for Patriot and THAAD missile defense systems.
