5 Hours and 4 Targets: Details of the American Strikes on Iran

New American strikes on Iran for the third consecutive day lasted 5 hours and targeted 4 military sites.

The US Central Command "CENTCOM" announced early Tuesday that its forces had completed the latest wave of strikes against Iran.

The US Central Command stated in a statement, "During the five-hour mission, US forces successfully struck military targets across Iran, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas."

It explained that "the forces used precision-guided munitions against air defense systems on the Iranian coasts, missile and drone launch sites, and naval capabilities."

It noted that "more than 50,000 American military personnel are currently deployed across the Middle East."

US President Donald Trump said Monday evening that the United States would strike Iran "hard" tonight after earlier announcing the reimposition of a naval blockade on Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz region, which is witnessing strikes on an unprecedented scale since the ceasefire in April, in a war whose repercussions continue to shake the global economy.

After about forty days of bombing in a war that erupted with Israeli-American strikes on Iran on February 28, a ceasefire came into effect at the beginning of April.

On June 17, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding, which stipulated several clauses, most notably ending the war on various fronts, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and conducting negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement within a renewable 60-day period.

Last Tuesday, confrontations resumed following Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Confrontations resumed at an unprecedented pace in weeks, prompting Trump to repeatedly say that the ceasefire was "over," leading to the collapse of the memorandum of understanding.

For its part, the White House confirmed that the US President sent an official notification to Congress last week indicating the resumption of the war with Iran.
