An armed assault hit the Syrian Petroleum Company’s "Souq al-Hadath" headquarters in Aleppo countryside, with threats perceived by civilian workers in the oil sector.

Local sources in Aleppo reported that the "Souq al-Hadath" facility, affiliated with the Syrian Petroleum Company in the village of al-Hadath in Aleppo countryside, was attacked by two unknown assailants riding a motorcycle on Sunday.
The sources indicated that the attackers targeted the residence of company employees before fleeing the scene. No information has been released regarding casualties resulting from the assault.
This incident followed the killing of a Ministry of Defense member in the same area just two days earlier by unidentified gunmen, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region amid complete uncertainty about the identities of those responsible for previous attacks against security forces and state institutions.
The attack on Sunday carries multiple risks perceived by civilian staff at the Syrian Petroleum Company, as "Souq al-Hadath" is considered a critical site for the company. It houses administrative offices, operational vehicles, and residences for personnel, sending a field message that this targeting raises concerns among workers in the oil sector and threatens the continuity of operations at vital facilities.
On July 10, sources had reported the killing of a Ministry of Defense member who was shot at directly by two unknown individuals on a motorcycle near a security checkpoint between the village of Qubbat al-Sheikh and the town of Tarhin in northern Aleppo countryside. As in previous cases, the assailants escaped before their identities or motives could be determined.
