Bahrain Condemns Renewed Iranian Attacks and Calls for Urgent UN Security Council Meeting
Bahrain strongly denounces Iran's renewed missile and drone attacks, urging the UN Security Council to convene immediately to address ongoing aggression against its sovereignty.

Bahrain issued a strong condemnation on Sunday of Iran's renewed aggression against its territory, involving ballistic missiles and drones. The Bahraini Foreign Ministry described this as a "serious escalation revealing that Tehran's actions are neither isolated incidents nor accidental but rather a deliberate and systematic pattern of repeated aggression against the kingdom's sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents."
In an official statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled its previous denunciation of Iranian attacks on its land, highlighting Tehran's breach of its commitments and the international will embodied in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). The ministry emphasized that the recurrence of this aggression on Sunday confirms the kingdom's prior warnings and demonstrates that the Iranian regime persists in its approach regardless of international condemnation or its own pledges. It affirmed that repeated attacks will not establish any new reality nor weaken Bahrain's resolve or the steadfastness of its people.
The ministry further stated that the repetition of these attacks removes any pretext and confirms premeditation. The latest assault follows shortly after Tehran's commitment under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed on June 17, 2026, which called for a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of regional states. This places sole responsibility on Iran for breaking its promises and undermining remaining opportunities for regional calm and stability.
While stressing that Iran's continued defiance of international will demands a firm response, Bahrain called on the United Nations Security Council to hold an urgent session to fulfill its duties in enforcing Resolution 2817 (2026), to halt the ongoing aggression, and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry condemned the early Saturday attack on its territory involving multiple Iranian drones, labeling it a "blatant violation of its sovereignty and a flagrant threat to the security of its citizens."
Bahrain affirmed that this repeated aggression is not only directed at it but constitutes a threat to the security of the entire Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) system. It referred to the fundamental principle underpinning the GCC Joint Defense Agreement that any attack on one member state is considered an attack on all, and that threats to one member affect all members.
Expressing pride in Gulf solidarity and shared security destiny, Bahrain reiterated its full right to defend its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity by all means permitted under international law. It held the Iranian regime fully responsible for any escalation resulting from the continuation of its attacks.
