Beijing: Taiwan a 'Red Line' in US Relations
China's Foreign Ministry reiterates Taiwan as a non-negotiable principle, warning it will directly shape the future of US-China ties.

Taiwan remains the single most critical factor in the relationship between Beijing and Washington, according to China’s Foreign Ministry, which declared the island a "non-negotiable principle" that must form the bedrock of any bilateral engagement.
The ministry stressed the need to build "stable and strategic" ties with the United States, a goal that requires managing differences and strengthening communication channels between the two sides. It added that Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, had exchanged views on several regional and international issues during their recent talks.
Beijing’s opposition to American arms sales to Taiwan is "firm and unchangeable," the ministry stated, warning that the trajectory of the bilateral relationship could be directly affected by how Washington handles the Taiwan file. The statement underscored the enduring sensitivity of the issue between the two powers.
