Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Donald Trump's stance on Russia, stating that closer ties with Putin only strengthen him. He also affirmed that Kyiv will never recognize occupied territories as Russian.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about his disagreement with US counterpart Donald Trump, confirming that there is no personal relationship between them, while warning that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of stopping the war.
Zelensky said in an interview with CNN: "There is nothing personal between me and Trump, but Trump getting closer to Putin will only make him stronger."
He added: "Trump was on the wrong side of history after announcing a deal to buy Russian fuel, which turned international efforts to isolate Russia upside down. Then Trump waived some sanctions imposed on Russia, which drew criticism even from his own party, and Ukrainian forces found their access to Elon Musk's Starlink service restricted."
Ceasefire
Zelensky pointed to the possibility of freezing current front lines for a ceasefire and sitting at the table to negotiate, but he stressed that the idea of Ukraine ceding currently controlled territory to Russia is out of the question, adding: "Kyiv will never recognize its occupied regions as part of Russia."
He added: "Our land is extremely important because it concerns people, not kilometers. Many people died defending this land. No one will recognize territories occupied by Russia as Russian lands, and I believe Russia realizes this."
European Support
Zelensky spoke about European support for his country, saying: "Although Ukraine's European allies have provided Ukraine with some air defense missiles, this is not enough to defend ourselves. Ukraine needs two things from its allies: not lifting sanctions imposed on Putin, and providing us with better missiles."
