Christian Amanpour Leaves CNN After 43-Year Career
Veteran journalist Christian Amanpour announced her departure from CNN after a 43-year career, citing months of careful consideration.

Veteran journalist Christian Amanpour announced on Monday that she will leave the "CNN" network after a professional career spanning 43 years, during which she was one of the American network's most prominent international correspondents.
Amanpour, aged 68, said in a statement: "After months of careful thought and several sleepless nights, as you can imagine, I have decided to end my work at CNN."
This announcement came weeks after "Paramount Skydance" officially acquired "Warner Bros. Discovery," the parent company of "CNN."
The merger raised concerns about "CNN"'s independence, given that the Ellison family, owners of the new entity, are close allies of US President Donald Trump, known for his harsh criticism of the news network.
Amanpour did not explicitly refer to this deal, but affirmed her commitment to being "fiercely independent."
She said, "This matter is of paramount importance today, amid unprecedented pressures we face from all sides, whether political or financial, in addition to increasing risks on the ground."
Amanpour, born in Britain, became famous through her coverage of the Gulf War in 1991 following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
Over the past decades, Amanpour interviewed many world leaders and decision-makers, and reported from hotspots such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Rwanda, and the Balkans region.
Amanpour clarified that her daily news program on "CNN" will transition to a weekly program until next June, and her program on the "PBS" network will also conclude.
