The Democratic Republic of Congo has confirmed 956 Ebola infections, including 247 fatalities, as the outbreak continues to spread across three provinces.

The Democratic Republic of Congo announced on Saturday that the total confirmed Ebola virus cases in the country have risen to 956, with 247 deaths recorded.
On Friday, the confirmed cases numbered 933, while deaths stood at 245.
A World Health Organization official reported on Friday that 75 healthcare workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo have contracted the Ebola virus, 17 of whom have died since the current outbreak began.
Also on Friday, the country's Health Minister confirmed the increase to 933 confirmed cases and 245 deaths.
This outbreak, caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain, has become one of the most complex Ebola epidemics in recent years. It is spreading in a region affected by conflict, where insecurity, population movements, and distrust of authorities hinder efforts to trace contacts and isolate cases.
The virus has now spread to three provinces since the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on May 17.
