Following a cabinet meeting, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that a bill concerning the dissolution of the banned armed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) will be sent to the parliament "within the coming days."
The PKK had decided in May 2025 to disarm and dissolve itself after a call from its imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan. The party engaged in a decades-long insurgency against the Turkish state and is designated as a terrorist organization by Ankara and its Western allies.
