Initial shipping data released Friday indicated that five vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. That figure represents a decline from 17 vessels on Wednesday and falls short of the 10-day average transit count of 15.

According to preliminary tracking data from ship-monitoring firm Kepler, issued at 0225 GMT, the five vessels included two medium-sized tankers and one very large gas carrier.

These figures remain subject to revision, as some ships switch off their automatic identification system (AIS) transceivers during transit.
