Four drones strike Iranian Kurdish opposition camps in Erbil’s Soran, Khelifan, and Harir districts

Four unmanned aerial vehicles struck three locations in the Soran, Khelifan, and Harir districts of Erbil Province in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region during the early hours of Wednesday, targeting facilities affiliated with Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, Rudaw reported.

Damage and emergency response

One drone ignited a fire in grasslands and pastures on Mount Bani Harir. A second crashed near a village in Khelifan. A third struck a civilian residence in Soran. Authorities confirmed no human casualties occurred at any of the three sites.

The resident whose home was hit in Soran stated that damage was limited to material losses and that the explosion caused fear among family members. Civil defense teams and security forces rushed to all impact locations to extinguish fires and assess damage.

Broader pattern of drone attacks on Erbil

Erbil has faced repeated drone strikes since renewed escalation between the United States and Iran, with Kurdish authorities attributing responsibility for these attacks to Tehran.

Earlier this month, a drone attack triggered a fire at a fuel storage facility within the Shemk refinery, located southwest of Erbil. The blaze halted operations at the site until authorities succeeded in extinguishing it.
