Al-Zaidi Orders Investigation Into Drone Attack on Barzani's Office
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has ordered an investigation into a drone attack on the office of Kurdistan Regional Government President Masrour Barzani and the residence of the intelligence chief in Erbil, following accusations by the Kurdish government that Iran carried out the assault.

Prime Minister of Iraq Ali Al-Zaidi directed an investigation into the drone attack on the office of Kurdistan Regional Government President Masrour Barzani and the residence of the intelligence chief in Erbil on Monday evening, after the Kurdish government accused Iran of carrying out the attack.
A statement from Al-Zaidi's media office said the prime minister "directed (...) the formation of an investigative committee tasked with uncovering the sources and origins of the attack (...) and announcing the findings to the public as soon as possible, along with revealing all details of the attack and the parties behind it."
In turn, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein called on the Iranian side to clarify its official position regarding the attack on Barzani's office.
Meanwhile, Tehran condemned the attack, describing the drone strikes on Barzani's office as "suspicious."
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed his Iraqi counterpart that "there is no information" about the launch of the attack on the Kurdistan region from Iran.
Earlier, the Kurdistan Region's Counter-Terrorism Directorate announced that Barzani's office and the home of one of the top officials in the intelligence agency were targeted by two drones.
The drones were launched from the Iranian border area, but the attacks caused no casualties or human losses, and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
