Iran, Oman Continue Hormuz Strait Negotiations Amid U.S. Confirmation of Progress

Ismael Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, stated that negotiations with the Sultanate of Oman concerning maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz remain active, according to official media reports.

Baghaei characterized the discussions with Oman as “positive” across both technical and political dimensions, noting their focus on establishing secure transit corridors for vessels entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz.

He emphasized that the negotiating track is designed to safeguard the sovereign rights and national security considerations of both Iran and Oman.

U.S. Confirms Advancement Without Final Deal

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking to journalists at the Department of State on Tuesday, confirmed that progress has been made in trilateral consultations involving Iran and Oman on facilitating increased vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Rubio added: “These talks have seen progress, but a final agreement has not yet been reached. We hope this will happen very soon.”
