According to Hassan Qashqavi, spokesperson for the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, the provision specifies that fees will be levied exclusively on “vessels of countries permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz.” Payment may be made in Iranian rials (toman) or in any other currency designated by Iranian authorities.
