Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to President Trump's insulting remarks, affirming Iran's preference for responding with actions rather than words.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi addressed the insulting language used by U.S. President Donald Trump against the Iranian people. Through his X account, Araghchi stated that such insults "will not diminish the greatness" of the Iranian nation and emphasized that Tehran prefers to respond with actions rather than verbal exchanges.
Araghchi said that addressing the "civilized and brave Iranian people" with offensive language does not detract from their dignity. He added that Iranians have historically been recognized for their civility, culture, and adherence to moral values.
He further asserted, "We do not respond to vulgarity with vulgarity, but with action; without fear and with great courage," indicating that Iran will not engage in reciprocal insults but will continue to defend its interests.
These remarks came as a direct response to President Trump's statements during his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the sidelines of the NATO leaders' summit in Ankara. Trump declared that he no longer wishes to engage with Iran or resume negotiations.
Trump stated that the ceasefire with Iran "is over for me," adding, "I don't want to deal with them anymore... they are scum." He acknowledged that Tehran desires negotiations but insisted that Iran must "come back to me," describing any new talks as "a waste of time."
The U.S. president emphasized that the United States "will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons," claiming that the Iranian leadership is "crazy" and responsible for killing thousands. He added that Washington "wasted a lot of time" negotiating with Tehran and that the time has come "to do what needs to be done."
Trump escalated his rhetoric by labeling Iranians as "scum, evil, and violent," asserting they "would use nuclear weapons if they had them." He also described negotiations with Iran as "pointless" because, in his words, they are "sick and liars."
The exchange of harsh statements between the two sides occurs amid escalating tensions in U.S.-Iran relations, with ongoing disputes over Iran's nuclear program and the future of any negotiation process. This follows a series of military confrontations in the region, accompanied by warnings and sharp declarations from both parties.
