Trump: Iran is in a big mess and hasn't struck the deal we want
President Donald Trump claims Iran is in serious trouble and completely defeated, stating it has failed to reach the deal he deems necessary. He insists U.S. forces remain in the region solely to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

President Donald Trump said Iran is "in a big mess and in chaos," according to his words.
He stated that Iranians "have not struck the deal I believe is necessary."
He added that Iran wants to reach an agreement and that U.S. forces are still present for one reason only: "to prevent them from obtaining nuclear weapons."
Trump believes Iran’s development of a nuclear weapon would take a long time after the U.S. Air Force strikes last summer on its nuclear facilities.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz crisis, Trump reiterated that U.S. forces control the strait "through naval blockade" and repeated his idea of declaring the strait an "American zone," saying the notion "appeals to him."
