Israel is gearing up for a new conflict with Iran while US forces remain stationed until 2027, as Tehran seeks to involve Hezbollah in a ceasefire agreement.

The Hebrew news site Walla has reported that Israel is preparing for a fresh confrontation with Iran, coinciding with the continued presence of US forces in the region until 2027. Meanwhile, Iran is attempting to draw Hezbollah into any ceasefire arrangements.
The region has seen an escalation following the redeployment of American military operations targeting Iran. Israel is closely monitoring the potential Iranian response, including the possibility of missile attacks. In this context, US President Donald Trump declared that, from his perspective, the agreement with Tehran has ended, as Israel's security establishment remains on high alert, described as shifting “from zero to one hundred.”
Trump stated that the memorandum of understanding with Iran "has ended and negotiations with it are a waste of time," as shown in a video statement.
According to a security source cited by Walla, the US military has not reduced its troop numbers but has maintained the same force composition as before the ceasefire. Through logistical agreements brokered by the Israeli Ministry of Defense and military on behalf of the Americans with local suppliers, these forces will remain stationed in Israel at least until early 2027.
On the intelligence front, Israel’s defense establishment assesses that Iran does not intend to engage in a full-scale war but aims to buy time and strengthen its negotiation leverage. Although senior US officials are reluctant to escalate into full conflict, security sources warn that President Trump’s patience may wear thin due to Iranian provocations, including public insults, assassination calls, threats of retaliation, and attacks on oil tankers.
Meanwhile, sources reveal that Iran is exerting behind-the-scenes pressure to include Hezbollah in any ceasefire deal, a move that faces firm rejection from both Israel and the United States.
A senior security official indicated that significant pressure is being applied to Hezbollah to demonstrate the organization’s level of suffering. Despite Hezbollah’s political pressures, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has not relented and remains steadfast in his desire to strengthen the memorandum of understanding with Israel.
