Jordan Welcomes Yemen Prisoner Swap Deal for Over 1,600 Detainees
Jordan's Foreign Ministry welcomed a UN-brokered agreement to release more than 1,600 detainees linked to the Yemen conflict.

More than 1,600 individuals held in connection with the Yemen conflict are set to be freed under a deal reached by Yemeni parties with United Nations facilitation, a move that drew praise from Jordan's Foreign Ministry. The agreement concluded a round of negotiations hosted by the capital Amman in recent weeks.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, stated that Jordan's hosting of the talks reflects its ongoing support for UN, Arab, and international efforts aimed at achieving peace, security, and stability in Yemen, fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people. He commended the significant efforts of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, as well as the crucial role played by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the involved Yemeni parties.
Al-Majali described the accord as the largest of its kind in terms of the number of detainees to be released since the onset of the Yemeni crisis, calling it an important humanitarian achievement.
