Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, stated on Sunday that the country's nuclear program is "not negotiable at all," according to Yonhap news agency.

Officially serving as director of the Workers' Party of Korea's Public Affairs Department, Kim Yo Jong is regarded as a key figure in North Korea's communication and foreign policy. Her statement came just before Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Pyongyang.

In her remarks, Kim Yo Jong said, "Our status as a nuclear power is not negotiable at all. We will not tolerate any threats," expressing a firm stance on the issue.

Last Thursday, the North Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim Jong Un inspected a nuclear material production facility that recently began operations.

The agency quoted Kim Jong Un as saying that production capacity had more than doubled in recent years and called for further expansion of nuclear capabilities as part of a new long-term plan.

Kim Jong Un is urging the expansion of North Korea's nuclear arsenal.
