Macron Urges Unity Amid Tough Weeks Fighting Gironde Wildfires

On Monday in Bordeaux, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need to "maintain unity" to overcome the prolonged struggle against the massive wildfires in the Gironde region near the city in southwestern France, where new fire outbreaks have recently emerged.

During his visit to the crisis management room at the fire and rescue operations center in Bordeaux, Macron stated, "The coming weeks will be tough, and we must hold firm." He added, "Let us remain united and fight to win the battle on all fronts," and called for "replanting and rebuilding a different forest by adapting to the structural conditions of climate change."
