Activists and eyewitnesses in Iran reported hearing several powerful explosions that shook Qeshm Island, located in the south of the country, early Wednesday, amid growing speculation about the nature and causes of these explosions.
The Quds platform affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard attributed the sounds of explosions heard in some areas of the island to operations intercepting small reconnaissance drones. The platform confirmed that no material or human damage was recorded as a result of these interceptions on the island, indicating that the situation is under control and there are no notable security repercussions, as it claimed.
This comes amid a lack of any official clarification from the Iranian authorities, as no official statements have been issued so far clarifying the nature of the explosions or their causes, while preliminary information remains unconfirmed at the moment.
In the same context, Iranian sources and citizens reported hearing similar explosions and seeing flashes in the sky of Bandar Abbas city, coinciding with the sounds of warplanes flying near Rajaei Port, which is one of the most important strategic ports in the country.
